Specials

All children attend weekly specials, including Tinker Lab, Library, Art Studio, and Music & Movement. Students in our Threes through Pre-K classes also participate in monthly Chapel and enjoy quarterly performances from the Alliance Theatre.

Music

Inspired learning through music and movement

Music at FPP is joyful, active, and rooted in exploration. Each class attends a weekly Music & Movement session where children sing, listen, move, and play a variety of percussion instruments. Lessons build early musical foundations such as rhythm, melody, and expressive listening while encouraging children to create and share their own musical ideas.

Our approach blends creativity with research-based practice, supporting language development, motor skills, confidence, and collaboration. Children learn both Christian and secular songs, experience movement games, and experiment with sound in playful ways. Through our partnership with the Alliance Theatre, students also enjoy quarterly performances that broaden their artistic imagination and deepen their appreciation for the arts.

Tinker Lab

Exploring science, engineering, and creativity through play

The Tinker Lab is a hands-on learning space where curiosity and creativity take the lead. Each week, children explore STEM concepts through playful experiences like coding, engineering challenges, and simple science experiments. They design, build, test, and problem-solve, discovering how things work while developing confidence and critical thinking skills.

Whether programming a small robot, creating a circuit, or inventing something entirely new, the Tinker Lab invites children to take risks, ask questions, and think like young engineers. It’s a joyful, empowering environment where innovation begins with play.

Art Studio

An atelier for discovery through art

Welcome to our Reggio-inspired atelier, a French and Reggio term meaning artist’s studio. It’s a creative space designed for exploration, expression, and joy. Here, children experiment with a wide range of materials such as paint, clay, collage, wire, paper, natural objects, and even light.

Through process-based art, children discover their own creative voice, try new techniques, and learn about art styles and influential artists. The focus is on exploration rather than the final product, helping children build confidence, independence, and a deeper awareness of how they see and interpret the world.

In our atelier, creativity becomes a language, and every creation is a step toward developing thoughtful, expressive, imaginative thinkers.

Library

Discovering the magic of books

Our library program nurtures a love of reading by making books and storytelling joyful, engaging, and accessible for young children.

Each week, students explore stories, songs, and rich language experiences that build early literacy skills, spark imagination, and strengthen listening and comprehension.

Through thoughtful read-alouds, hands-on activities, and exposure to a diverse range of books, children discover the magic of stories and begin developing the foundational skills that support confident, lifelong reading.

Chapel

A joyful time of worship and wonder

Chapel is a special and meaningful part of life at FPP. Once each month, children in our Older Twos, Threes, Pre-K, and Kindergarten classes gather in the First Presbyterian Church to worship together.

Led by church pastors, children hear Bible stories, sing songs about God, and engage in simple discussions and dramatizations that help them understand faith, kindness, and community in age-appropriate ways.

Chapel is a joyful time that nurtures spiritual growth while honoring each child’s sense of wonder.
