First Presbyterian Preschool began collaborating with the Adaptive Learning Center (ALC) in 2006 to provide an Inclusive Preschool Program. Through this collaboration, the Preschool serves children with disabilities and special needs in our classrooms. With support from special education facilitators provided by the ALC, children participate fully in our school activities. For more information about the Adaptive Learning Center, please visit their website at www.adaptivelearningcenter.org.
The Haven is a multi-sensory room designed for the benefit of all our children. Our students enjoy the Haven as another physical activity area, on rainy days, or just to get the wiggles out. Also utilized for occupational therapy, the Haven is a wonderful addition to First Presbyterian classrooms and a very popular space for the children to romp and play.
Through a partnership with Talk Time for Kids, a local group of pediatric speech-language therapists and occupational therapists, our school arranges screening for children in our Twos, Threes, Pre-k and Kindergarten classes. Additionally, a limited number of students participate in on-site speech-language therapy and/or occupational therapy before, during or after the school day.
Speech & Vision
Prevent Blindness Georgia provides vision screening for our Pre-K students. This service is free of charge. For a small fee speech screening is offered each fall by Chatterbox to children 2 years old and up. Speech therapy can be arranged by families to take place during the school day.
